ELECTIVE GUIDELINES

Education Committee – Elective Course Guidelines

In Order to qualify as an Elective Course under the Certificate In Property Management Program, a course must meet the following criteria:

• Course must be a minimum of 35 hours in length
  
• Course must be taken through a recognized college or university
  
• Minimum accepted passing grade of 60% is required
  
• Course must be current or been taken within the past five years
  
• Course outline (detailed course description) and transcript must be provided
  
• Course topic must be directly relevant to the job description of a property manager
  
• Course topics for the 2 required electives must be diversified – ie. if a student has taken 2 accounting related courses – only 1 would be accepted for credit

• Business Planning and Strategic Management
  
• Communicating for Effectiveness
  
• Tenancy Law in Ontario
  
• Supervision: Techniques and Practices
• Quality Teams and Customer Service Excellence
• RTA Online Course - 1/2 credit - register directly through ONPHA
  
• RGI Online Course - 1/2 credit - register directly through ONPHA
